Picking up a laptop sleeve

If you’ve ever wanted to really protect your expensive investment in the best way possible when you’re on the go, you should really be looking into a laptop sleeve. A laptop sleeve goes a very long way toward ensuring your peace of mind, and actually has quite a bit in common with simple laptop bags, in that they’re both used specifically for the protection of your laptop. The real difference, of course, is that one is bulky and isn’t very good if you have to spend a lot of time on the road, particularly if you go through airport security on a daily basis. You’ll simply end up having to pull all of your stuff out of your bag and showing it to the security personnel anyway; why put up with something like that?

A laptop sleeve allows all of the versatility (and most of the protection) of a standard bag, without requiring it take up a lot of space. That means that your laptop can easily fit in your luggage (instead of having to buy an attachment to have it attach to your luggage handle), under the seat in front of you on airplanes, and heck, even in the seat back pocket. That’s a very nice thing, as you probably don’t want to risk putting a laptop in the overhead bin on airplanes. It can easily get crushed or otherwise mangled, and you’d be out a lot of money at that point. Having it with you at all times is a big plus, and protects you from theft.

So, let’s talk about some of the various laptop sleeves you can find on the market. There are many popular sleeve designs that can be found at a whole multitude of online stores (and the usual brick and mortar stores).

For men, the Case Logic 17″ Laptop Attaché sleeve is always a good bet. It looks stylish and classy with a black neoprene exterior, which means that it’s not only good looking, it’ll protect your equipment well. The thing that we want to mention is this: Even though this neoprene laptop sleeve is made out of the same material wetsuits are made of, we can’t attest to its water resistance! Do that at your own risk!

A popular product for women is the Skooba RoadWired 1617. This is a 15.4″ laptop sleeve that’s actually made a little bit bigger just to make sure your computer fits snug, but not too snug. This sleeve almost looks like an old trapper keeper (remember those?), and features a flip-up flap that converts it from a folder-like sleeve into a normal carrying case. Orange is a popular color, but there are many to choose from. The material is actually based on your color choice, so choose wisely.

That’s about all I have for now, so check back soon for more laptop sleeve reviews!
