Have a broken laptop?

Do you have a broken laptop? If so, don’t worry: It’s very easy to quickly and cheaply fix your laptop these days. Many manufacturers will allow you to send your computer back to them for your repairs, and there are many professional and amateur repair services available if you don’t want to spend the money to have it done by the company that manufactured your laptop in the first place. So, let’s talk about some of the more reputable repair services we’ve seen recently.
I think most people have heard of the Geek Squad. The Geek Squad is one of the most popular and useful services you can hire to fix your broken laptop. They come highly recommended from most people who use them, and the best thing is: They’re easy to get in contact with. Those guys are always hanging out stationed in Best Buys just about everywhere, waiting and ready for you to bring your laptop in. They offer a cheap service, and will even rid your laptop of all of the spyware, viruses, and all of the ailments that may be keeping your computer from running at 100%. Keep in mind though that since the Geek Squad is a nation-wide company, your personal results with them may vary. One location may be excellent, while another may give you problems. This is just the same as any large company; the services are only as good as the people doing the hiring make them.

Before you take your broken laptop to such a place, you might want to even look at local companies (after all, it’s always better to support the local people!). You can do this by doing a quick Google search. Searching for something like “[city] laptop repair” will usually yield some pretty good results. Even better is that Google Maps will even give you directions to go to their office if they have one. That’s one thing to keep in mind about local repair people: Some may not even have a real office. They’re simply on-call and will come out to meet you wherever you live or work. This is fine for some people, but many people would prefer to bring their computers in for service. Privacy is important.
How much should you be willing to pay to repair a busted laptop? It all depends on the severity of the situation. Most virus removals, etc. will be fairly inexpensive. For something like replacing a motherboard you might be looking at several hundred dollars (most repairmen charge by hours of labor). If you need parts, expect to pay more than that as well.
